What makes up character?
I have come to understand character to mean: a collection of behaviors that reveal and arise from a set of values.
A balanced character is therefore a balancing act because behaviors are actions contained within a state of being.
What is a balanced character?
To be kind but not self-sacrificing,
To be firm but not unbending,
To be compassionate but not excusing,
To be loyal but not fanatic,
To be curious but not nosy,
To be analytical but not judgmental,
To be open but not an empty vessel,
To be confident but remain humble,
To be optimistic but not naïve,
To be daring but not foolish,
To be accountable but not submissive,
To be truthful but discrete,
To be ambitious but not socially destructive
To evolve but not abandon self,
To set boundaries instead of building walls,
To have faith but still question, because questioning is a birthright and discovery would be lost without it.
